So as to how we met, it's kind of interesting because it's, like, different for each of us, I guess. But for the majority, I would say that, like, we met making music, definitely. Like, me and Na Nigel met in the studio. Excuse me, Renzo. We just started working on songs, like, my freshman year, and then Mike and I were working on songs freshman year too. All three of us were, like, doing this then I guess, like, we just kept meeting more people. We met Sunny eventually, like, junior year. We met Alex also junior year, and then Wes through Instagram. So, like, it's been. I mean, everybody kind of has a different story of, like, how each of us met. But for me, like, that's how I got connected to, like, each one of them.

So there's always debate about where I'm from, but I'm going to say Charlotte because that's what most people know. But it's actually called Gastonia, North Carolina. It's like right next to it. When I was growing up, I liked a lot of different stuff than like my peers, I guess, Even though it was mostly just like alternative rock based kind of music. But also my mom was like introducing me to like Kanye when I was younger and like Jay Z. So I was kind of into hip hop as well. So I'd say like definitely nerd probably just because it's like a combination of both of those things. I like Childish Gambino a lot too.

Yeah, I'm from the Trey Winston Salem, very I guess homegrown, kind of slow, hella older. I listened to a lot of soul music, a lot of church music because I grew up in church. Couldn't really listen to rap until I was 14. But when that started, no, they were really strict. I really didn't start. But when I started it was like full fledged. It was all about some Kanye, all about some outkast, anything like 90s influence. I was really big into. I kind of missed out on a lot of like the Bush era stuff like the Omarions and like the people like that. But it all came back around with Kendrick and yeah, of course you know, we all know about Childish. So yeah, sweet.

There's a little debate about where I'm from too. But I'm gonna again go with Charlotte, North Carolina and. But I'm from Matthews if you know where that is outside of Charlotte and a lot of like my musical influences. I'd say one of the things that brings us all together is we have like similar tastes in music. Even though we have like more eclectic little things that we like as well. Like outside of just like what the mainstream of what we all consume is. I think when I was younger I feel similar to Jordan where I was like, I just felt like I didn't fit in completely based off of what I listened to. Like I can remember the first CD I ever got was a Bowling for Soup cd.

So I was listening to like some alternative stuff but also like a lot of hip hop music from my older sister. My parents were similar to Sunny where like they only played gospel. So like I either would hear like Earth, Wind and Fire type of like or Michael Jackson obviously like staples in people's households versus like whenever I could like sneak onto my ipod shuffle and stuff. But like now I feel like my tastes are more like more eclectic to where I like artists like MF Doom and like JPEG Mafia and stuff like that. Like kind of people who are in exist in hip hop but like are pushing the genre forward in my eyes. So I like a lot of stuff like that and like some electronic music as well.

So the whole thing went from, like, oh, my God, we're about to perform at this huge venue, and Winston saying, oh, my God, we made it, quote, unquote, to, like, all right, no one's really receptive. You know what I'm saying? And they just kind of kicked us. So it was a really big learning experience. One of the first times we all met, like, each other, and we all, like, Dr. Drove somewhere to do a show, and we just had to learn from that show.

I think for me, the best moment that I can remember it would probably be one of our shows. I really like a show that we did at Emerge. It was just like, we really started off crafting our sound and crafting our technique as performers, starting out at Emerge and stuff, and just small artist venues and things like that. So it was really cool to me to be able to come back and bring a 200 person crowd there and have a show and just be like, wow. We really knowing for ourselves, even beyond what people see, like the work that we put in knowing, like, wow, two years ago were plotting on this, and now we actually have made it like a physical thing.

So there's a lot to look forward to in 2020. I can't really on the group or everybody else's individual work because, you know, that's kind of still on its own thing. But for myself, I can say that I'm dropping a new album in May of 2020, which is called Digital Native. So I just want to let you guys know about that one. It's going to be the follow up to my first album, which was called Vacation Never Ends.

My whole life as someone who was kind of, like, pushing it by himself or solo for a while, and to come into this family, it was like, all right, well, what do you want to do? Or whether we continue to grow like this in 10 years or whether we're all just, like, dispersing and doing whatever, that we're all at least staying consistent, continuing to put out content, that the art continues to strengthen. I would personally love if we like Wu Tang Clan, the Jon. And it's like, you know, over the course of the next decade, you get a. A crazy, amazing album from each member, and it'll be like, that's a pivotal moment. That's like a DOTWAV moment.

I really love them all, but I'm have to go with Revenge of the Sith Episode three. I like seeing heroes given to their dark side because, you know, we all have this inherent darkness about all of us, and most of us are better at hiding it than others. So it's so refreshing to see a hero seek revenge and given fully to his dark side, as Anakin does when he turns into Darth Vader. Also, it was the only Star Wars I got to see with my grandfather, and he took me to theater a couple times to see it. That one just lives in my childhood, and I have great memories watching that film.
