[Sk the Novelist – Limit Pusher]
04:53
DJ Iron Mike
What's going on, everybody? It's your boy, DJ Iron Mike chilling with you on another beautiful Thursday afternoon for local rap lunch. I've got a very good friend in the building.
05:03
Sk the Novelist
A little too beautiful. I sweated mad hard just walking.
05:06
DJ Iron Mike
You haven't even introduced yourself, bro. You. You can't be on my airwaves, not even introducing. Anyways, I got a very good friend in the building. My little homie. Day one over here at WKNC. Sk the novelist, AKA DJ, formerly known as DJ Rhythm.
05:25
Sk the Novelist
Your majesty. Yeah, I gave it up a while.
05:30
DJ Iron Mike
You're never gonna use that name.
05:31
Sk the Novelist
Never again.
05:32
DJ Iron Mike
But it's good to have you up here as a alumni artist. Yeah, you know what I mean.
05:38
Sk the Novelist
It's gonna be back. It's very hot. Yeah, thanks, man. Yeah, been trying to do. Trying to do my thing, man. Just finally got the album out. So. So we been pushing that coming out of Asheville. Coming out of Asheville, the land of craft beer.
05:53
DJ Iron Mike
Land of craft beards. Even though I can't talk about.
05:58
Sk the Novelist
You encompass like half of that right now. Yeah, you're like two thirds of that,
06:02
DJ Iron Mike
But yeah, man, thanks for coming up.
06:04
Sk the Novelist
Thank you, bro. Thanks for having me.
06:06
DJ Iron Mike
You're gonna be playing local band, local beer tonight. I will, I will. Poor House.
06:10
Sk the Novelist
At the Poor House. Yeah.
06:11
DJ Iron Mike
With a whole bunch of other dope, North Carolina artists, Gracious Monk. Yeah. Big up to my homie Brass. I know he listens on the regular.
06:18
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, I'm excited to see him, man. I ain't seen his set in a while, so it's developed. Yeah, no, that's what I've heard. I've hear really good things, like through you and everything. Yeah, yeah.
06:28
DJ Iron Mike
Black Trail is another one. You'll like him. Yeah. You haven't seen him yet.
06:32
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, I don't think so. Yeah, yeah, good.
06:34
DJ Iron Mike
Who else is on that, though?
06:36
Sk the Novelist
Rob Dollars.
06:37
DJ Iron Mike
Rob Dollars, he's another. He's good. I've heard his music. I haven't seen him live, but that's. But either way, tonight is going to be a really good lineup. And of course, Mike Live's going to be.
06:46
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, I got my man Mike live coming through to. Yeah, man, we're. We're gonna team up. And I got. I don't know if it's cool to shout you out.
06:54
DJ Iron Mike
I mean, shout me out. I'll shout myself. I got DJ on the mic, on the wheels. You know, DJ Mike, you'll be doing the ones and twos. I don't just do this airwave thing. I actually do this real.
07:03
Sk the Novelist
So, you know, it's gonna be a party, man.
07:04
DJ Iron Mike
Yeah, exactly.
07:05
Sk the Novelist
You know, it's gon already, so.
07:07
DJ Iron Mike
So, I mean, the time, you know, you graduated, what, May of last year? Yeah, time flies.
07:13
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, 2018. May.
07:15
DJ Iron Mike
You. You ran. You went back to Asheville. I stuck around over here.
07:18
Sk the Novelist
I kind of miss it. Might move back.
07:21
DJ Iron Mike
So what you've been doing, like, creating. I mean, I know what you've been doing. Yeah, you know, of course. Yeah.
07:27
Sk the Novelist
Well, I had a… I had an album by the name of Baggage that I've been working on for just about two years. Some of those tracks on there are like upwards of two years old. And. Yeah, I just kind of been waiting to get it developed to the right. To the right point. I linked up with the right, like, you know, photographers and content creators to get some cool content going, because that's what matters. Yeah, no, for real.
07:49
DJ Iron Mike
I get the bars.
07:50
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
07:52
DJ Iron Mike
Forget the. Forget the music.
07:54
Sk the Novelist
I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but it's real. That's real. I mean, the music.
08:00
DJ Iron Mike
We're in a weird place in hip hop. Yeah. Kind of. Music is the music.
08:03
DJ Iron Mike
Yeah.
08:04
Sk the Novelist
I mean, the music matters, but you got to. You got to present yourself as, like, as. As dope, you know, So I didn't want something that looked like I made.
08:10
DJ Iron Mike
It on, but I mean,
08:12
Sk the Novelist
Photoshop in five minutes.
08:14
DJ Iron Mike
As an artist, you're actually like. I always respected you as a colleague.
08:19
Sk the Novelist
Thanks, man.
08:20
DJ Iron Mike
Because you actually make records.
08:22
Sk the Novelist
Thanks, man.
08:23
DJ Iron Mike
Yeah, I, you know, you don't just, like, get on a beat and just spit until it's over.
08:27
Sk the Novelist
Five minutes, bar.
08:29
DJ Iron Mike
It's really not hard to rap. Anyone could rap.
08:31
Sk the Novelist
Right.
08:32
DJ Iron Mike
You know, you could rap just to rap.
08:33
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
08:34
DJ Iron Mike
And not talk about absolutely nothing. Like, that happens a lot with white rappers.
08:37
Sk the Novelist
Yeah. You know, I. Yeah, I see it. Yeah.
08:40
DJ Iron Mike
And that's one of the reasons why I feel like you've been able to, like, stick around.
08:44
Sk the Novelist
Right.
08:45
DJ Iron Mike
Because you're, you know, you're white rapper, but you also.
08:48
Sk the Novelist
This I know.
08:49
DJ Iron Mike
Okay. You don't have to look so sad.
08:55
Sk the Novelist
For anyone listening, I didn't look sad.
08:58
DJ Iron Mike
But you have subject when you rap.
09:00
Sk the Novelist
Thanks, man.
09:00
DJ Iron Mike
Yeah, like, I mean, you and I are from, like, totally different places, but. We've always been able to connect on music. Yeah.
09:06
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
09:06
DJ Iron Mike
You can get your point across very well.
09:08
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, I appreciate that, man. I appreciate you saying that.
09:11
Sk the Novelist
And that's something I've been kind of working on while I built this thing was. Was making music that was more listenable, you know what I'm saying? Get more feeling. Because I realized in the past, and you could probably agree that this I had. I always had, like, really good lyrics is what I felt. But, you know, sometimes the feeling wasn't there because I just kind of almost skipped that step. Well, in the last year, I kind of been listening to just a lot, a diverse amount of music and stuff like that. And my focus when I got the project out was making music that I felt really sounded good, like, sonically, you know, so that's. That's what I tried to do. And I, you know, I hope I achieve that.
09:46
DJ Iron Mike
You've always, like, your past projects, you kind of stuck to boom bat, like a boom bat aesthetic. But this singles you put out, the one with Was it Brain Said and Bones. Yeah.
09:57
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
09:58
DJ Iron Mike
Totally different.
09:59
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
10:00
DJ Iron Mike
But, you know, but still staying true to, you know.
10:02
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
10:02
DJ Iron Mike
Even Yourself being yourself.
10:04
Sk the Novelist
I like to say I blend like the mainstream with the underground. I think them somewhere right in the middle, you know, I listen to a lot of mainstream stuff, but then I sound underground because I'm just like this white kid from Asheville.
10:19
DJ Iron Mike
As long as you're not sounding like young gravy that, you know, it's all.
10:22
Sk the Novelist
Good, like, no comment. Yeah. Okay.
10:27
DJ Iron Mike
So, like, I mean, I guess, like, you put out Limit Pusher.
10:31
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, that's an old one at this point.
10:33
DJ Iron Mike
A couple years ago now.
10:34
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, it was 20.
10:35
DJ Iron Mike
That was kind of like the start of your change, like your switch over.
10:40
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, I. Yeah, that from that point onward, I realized, like, that was a fun, like, bag to be in was the, like, trap type bag, so.
10:47
DJ Iron Mike
Yeah. So how did you. How were you? How'd you like, you know, make that transition?
10:52
Sk the Novelist
Well, I was, you know, I kind of had this weird, like, purist mentality of like, oh, I'm gonna be boom bap. It's corny to put out trap music. I don't know why I thought that way three. Three years ago, but I did, you know, kinda. But anyways, I tried it out. It worked, and I realized you could be like, lyrical and have fun at the same time. Yeah, I mean, I kind of did that.
11:12
DJ Iron Mike
You know, we did that bad and bougie freestyle.
11:14
Sk the Novelist
That was fun.
11:15
DJ Iron Mike
I think that was like the spark.
11:17
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, yeah. That sparked it. Because I never tried something like that, you know, I mean, it was fun.
11:21
DJ Iron Mike
Yeah, yeah, exactly. But that's cool, man.
11:23
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
11:23
DJ Iron Mike
Because Limit Pusher was really dope. Definitely, like, pushed your. Your flow. Listening to you on your come up. You. You and I working together so closely for a while. When you first showed it to me, I'm not gonna front. I was like, what the hell was this dude spitting.
11:39
Sk the Novelist
It was too different. It was out there. It was out there.
11:42
DJ Iron Mike
But then, like, as I, like, kept on listening, like, it's like, oh, really? A banger. And then you did Big bills.
11:47
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
11:48
DJ Iron Mike
With ptp.
11:49
Sk the Novelist
No, that one was John Hart.
11:51
DJ Iron Mike
Okay.
11:51
Sk the Novelist
I had a. How you feeling with ptp? That came out all within the same, like, month. Yeah, yeah, sorry. Yeah, yeah.
11:56
DJ Iron Mike
You're getting in your bag, man.
11:57
Sk the Novelist
Trying to get in the bag. Yeah, yeah. I got a cool. A couple really cool features on the project too. I was really excited about, man. I finally linked up with Convo.
12:05
DJ Iron Mike
Nice.
12:06
Sk the Novelist
He's always been like an inspiration to me out here through the cipher and stuff like that. So it was cool, man. I got Pete PTP on there. Obviously. I got The Deep End. That was our first track together.
12:17
DJ Iron Mike
Nice.
12:18
Sk the Novelist
Which is sick. Also an inspirational cat for me. And then I got Thiago, you know, Mike Live and C. Shreve, a lot of the regulars and stuff like that. But it's.
12:29
DJ Iron Mike
Not anything, though.
12:30
Sk the Novelist
Well, you on the. You know, you're on, like, the next one, you know?
12:33
DJ Iron Mike
Yeah. You know, I. I got. I feel.
12:36
Sk the Novelist
I'm waiting for that real. I'm waiting for that real.
12:39
DJ Iron Mike
Until you got on the air. I can make you feel as awkward as possible. Called out in front of millions of people.
12:44
Sk the Novelist
Triggered. Triggered. Yeah.
12:47
DJ Iron Mike
I want to let everybody in North Carolina know that me and SK have beef. And all this friendly banter is just a facade.
12:54
Sk the Novelist
It's all a promotional strategy.
12:56
DJ Iron Mike
I'm going totally sabotage his performance tonight.
13:00
Sk the Novelist
He's literally about to play his diss track on air after this.
13:07
DJ Iron Mike
But, yeah, so let's get into the music. Let's show these people what you've been doing. Start with Limit Pusher. A couple other new joints as we go on. So everybody who's listening, keep it locked up. SK in the building. We're gonna keep on roasting each other as this day goes on. So this is gonna be one of the good interviews of the month. So keep it locked here. His limit. Push it by SK.
13:29
Music
[Sk the Novelist]
16:18
DJ Iron Mike
What's going on? It's your boy, DJ Iron Mike, and you're listening to local Rap Lunch. You were just listening to my homie Precise Politics with Calamari. Earlier in the hour, you were listening to Limit Pusher by the homie. S.K. The novelist was in the building with me today, about to play local band, local beer tonight. Night at the poor house. Came all the way down the mountain, you know.
16:44
Sk the Novelist
No, I'm excited, man. I. I actually haven't done a. A, A music show in Raleigh in like over two years. Three years. I think maybe I did like one while I was here. Like, I did a lot of the battle stuff, but, like, music stuff.
16:57
DJ Iron Mike
It was like that one I put together. Yeah, you Put that together. Holiday show.
17:03
Sk the Novelist
Oh, yeah, never mind. I apologize. I count that one. I forgot.
17:07
DJ Iron Mike
That was probably counting that.
17:08
Sk the Novelist
I forgot. That's probably the best one I've had here. I had a really weird one, like, years prior.
17:14
DJ Iron Mike
Really?
17:15
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, we just, we're just calling it out. It was at. What's the venue that's not even around anymore? The one that everybody. Deep South. Yeah, it, like, I remember that. I know. It's a weird time.
17:29
DJ Iron Mike
Oh, is that the one?
17:30
Sk the Novelist
It was the one. You remember that.
17:34
DJ Iron Mike
Okay, so it was like. It was you and like other people.
17:39
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
17:39
DJ Iron Mike
Okay. Yeah, that was a weird show.
17:41
Sk the Novelist
It was a very weird show. I was one of like 10 artists on the bill. We all had like 10 minutes. It was very bizarre.
17:47
DJ Iron Mike
That was. That was how Deep south did this show. Yeah, that's kind of the beauty of Deep south, but.
17:54
Sk the Novelist
But anyways, I'm really excited for this one. I've never rocked the poor house, so.
17:58
DJ Iron Mike
It's always good to get it shout outs to mirror. Yeah, for sure. Carolina Waves. It's a Carolina Waves event.
18:05
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
18:06
DJ Iron Mike
So Mir does a lot and she definitely. She definitely looked out on that one.
18:11
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, no, I'm excited to be on board. I've been watching the whole Carolina Waves thing. I'm just honored to be like a part of it, you know, so. It's sick. Yeah. They do big things. They do big things out here next.
18:21
DJ Iron Mike
Year and you're going to be. Going to a 3C.
18:24
Sk the Novelist
Golly. Dream big. Yeah.
18:26
DJ Iron Mike
So, I mean, what are your goals with. With your new album? Because I'm, you know, this one, you definitely put a lot of not only creative energy into it, but you did a lot to market it, you know, on any of your other projects. So what are your goals for?
18:41
Sk the Novelist
Well, I definitely am wanting to develop a really good, like, live performance, and then I kind of want to take it on the road, you know, I really want to travel, like, live performance and then I kind of want to take it on the road, you know, I really want to travel with it really badly, so. Which is something I've never done, you know, before. And it's very important to do. To do that. Yeah. Network, you know, all that. It's very overlooked. I don't want to bottleneck myself essentially by like, trying to perform in the same three cities, you know what I'm saying? So. Which is what I see a lot of people doing. So I. And it's tricky and it's expensive and it's hard to do that, but it's important.
19:24
DJ Iron Mike
But you low key, have a pretty good SoundCloud following. I always like, I always forget like when I go on your SoundCloud like, oh, SK's popping on SoundCloud a little bit.
19:35
Sk the Novelist
I kind of, I've moved away from that though a little bit. I don't even think. I haven't even uploaded the project on SoundCloud yet. I just wanted to get on streaming services. I started trying to get your money. The importance of monetization. I just feel like it's a little bit more reputable to be like, yeah, my project is on Spotify than to be like sending people soundcloud links not to down absolutely great soundcloud or nothing. I mean I literally came up off that, you know, but I am moving into the direction of like streaming services and stuff like that.
20:02
DJ Iron Mike
So how. Like I know you gave me pointers on like, you know, up in your SoundCloud followers and that kind of stuff. So like those people that you did establish.
20:10
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
20:10
DJ Iron Mike
A reputation with on SoundCloud, have you done anything to like bridge that gap between.
20:15
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, I actually, yeah, I, I got invited to be part of a, a collective on SoundCloud like a couple months ago. So that's been pretty cool. We've been working on like a collective tape type thing. I mean it's very much like a side project type thing, but it's just cool to be a networked with like he's like 30 other rappers and it's so funny. Small world come to find out like Tiago is in the same collective.
20:41
DJ Iron Mike
We didn't really know that.
20:42
Sk the Novelist
We didn't even realize until I shot him a text. I was like, bro, it's kind of cool. Cuz I knew he was part of like collectives and stuff. I was, I got invited to be part of this collective. He's like, nice, welcome to the collective. I'm a part of that one too. I was like, holy cow. It's kind of funny.
20:55
DJ Iron Mike
But he's another one who's like low key now.
20:58
Sk the Novelist
He is really popping on SoundCloud. Yeah, he's like, yeah, he's got like couple hundred thousand plays on like multiple joints on there. So he's doing like big things on there. But yeah, I've been, you know, I've been kind of moving away from the SoundCloud thing, bro. I, I don't know. Not. Not that there's anything wrong with it. It. But I just kind of. I don't know.
21:17
DJ Iron Mike
Well, you're not trying to get a face tat because if you get a certain number of followers, you got to.
21:22
Sk the Novelist
Get a face tag for every.
21:23
DJ Iron Mike
Every hundred K and then get, you know, dreads. Well, you can't get dreads,
21:31
Sk the Novelist
Slay.
21:32
DJ Iron Mike
Hey, I told you, man. You didn't put me on the album. I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna get you a couple more times.
21:37
Sk the Novelist
Gross. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, no face tats for me. I don't have any tattoos. Piece. I'm afraid to get a tattoo. We're just gonna open up. Not afraid, but like that's what makes you different. Your white rapper, I think it's expected for me to have a tattoo by.
21:54
DJ Iron Mike
Now, wants to make good music.
21:56
Sk the Novelist
Yeah.
21:56
DJ Iron Mike
I mean that's why I rock with you, bro.
21:58
Sk the Novelist
Thanks, man. Thanks. Just a regular guy.
22:04
DJ Iron Mike
You got any more shows coming up though after lblb?
22:07
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, I got. I'm doing an album celebration show in Asheville at the moth light on March 14th and it's going to be with Spaceman Musashi, Zero Herb the Wizard and Mike live and PTP. So got a nice snack stacked Asheville lineup for that.
22:23
DJ Iron Mike
That's. That's like the Asheville lineup.
22:25
Sk the Novelist
It is, yeah. Some of the. Most of the heads out there. So. And then, and then after that I'm pretty wide open, man. I think. I don't know. I got some things I can't really disclose but.
22:35
DJ Iron Mike
Oh, you got like on the low.
22:39
Sk the Novelist
But I've been talking about some collabs with some big, big names out here in Raleigh that it's pretty exciting. So I. It's kind of cool being in Asheville. I'm kind of like the way I stabbed, you know, the what I established out here and then kind of took back with me to Asheville. A lot of people like will hit me up as the. The Asheville kind of like network connect guy which is really fun. Like I feel honored to be that. That role for a lot of people, you know. So.
23:04
DJ Iron Mike
That guy.
23:05
Sk the Novelist
Yeah. I ain't saying all that but I just. It's cool though to be. To be able to still connect even though living out there I can still connect people and the talent out here and kind of bridge that gap is like pretty cool. So.
23:18
DJ Iron Mike
And you know like Asheville is like such a different vibe when it comes to hip hop and not on hippie stuff but just like. Yeah, I feel like I actually fun fact was like super like centimeters close to moving out to Asheville. No way up to like a week ago. What this is crazy, right? Okay, get the Moog fan factory.
23:41
Sk the Novelist
But, man, that would have been insane, bro. That would have been the perfect job for you, man. I know, but that's like, I'm working.
23:48
DJ Iron Mike
With Ferrari and Ducati.
23:50
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, well, you the man.
23:51
DJ Iron Mike
I'm not. You the man.
23:53
DJ Iron Mike
I'm kind of doing things. But, man, that's like.
24:02
Sk the Novelist
That's like so unprofessional.
24:03
DJ Iron Mike
So. I'm so unprofessional. Anyway, what was I saying?
24:08
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, but you were bragging about all the things you do.
24:11
DJ Iron Mike
Talking about myself. I say, like, you know, Asheville. So Ash was like the. The vibe in Asheville for hip hop is just so, like, welcoming. I don't think I've ever done a show in Asheville. I mean, you've told me about a couple bad shows that.
24:25
Sk the Novelist
Oh, there's. Yeah, there's been.
24:26
DJ Iron Mike
But personally, like, every time I've gone, it's always been either as a fan or, you know, being involved in the show. It's always, like, really cool. And the people involved are always really welcoming. You gotta want ptp shout out to pt. Last time I was up there and he killed. Not only put on a great show, but just like, was a big. Like a homie.
24:45
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, yeah, no, he's. Yeah, he's. He does great things too, as far as putting shows together. But the. Yeah, man, you got. You just got to want to make people have a good time. You know what I'm saying? A lot of people just want to dance, you know what I'm saying? Stuff like that. So even if you are rapping and stuff like that, make something that people can bounce to, you know what I'm saying?
25:02
DJ Iron Mike
That's the thing. And like, you know, I love Raleigh. We're cool raleigh. I love y' all 91 9. But in Asheville, you gotta throw shade. No, like, with Asheville, people come out to have a good time, right? You know, they come out to have like two party. So like, which, you know, to bring it back to go see people they don't know, right?
25:19
Sk the Novelist
That's what kind of influenced the. The music that I have been making, you know, as I went to live shows and I saw what worked and I even experimented in my own set with songs. I saw what was really going, you know, and I just, you know, I wanted to make feel good music because that's what a lot of people in Asheville do. They make feel good music. So, you know, people. People come out to have a good time. Not always, like, happy, bright, like, topics and stuff. Like that. I'm not saying it's all just like positive hippie crap, but, like, no, we're.
25:47
DJ Iron Mike
Not gonna get any, like, ukulele rap. Really? Mandolin rap?
25:51
Sk the Novelist
Gee whiz. Yeah, bluegrass. Bluegrass.
25:55
DJ Iron Mike
Mouth.
25:57
Sk the Novelist
Golly, the beard ain't got that long yet. But. But anyways, man. Sorry. Going on a ride. But yeah, feel good music, man. That's what. That's what Asheville's about. And I think it kind of reflects in the album. So I read an article.

It was a pretty big magazine. I don't know if it was like Forbes or one of those big guys. It was like Forbes or Billboard, something like that. Talking about Asheville being like the next music city.
26:22
Sk the Novelist
That's crazy.
26:23
DJ Iron Mike
And I hope that doesn't happen. No, because that would just make. That would just make things a mess. North Carolina doesn't need that kind of static.
26:31
Sk the Novelist
Asheville doesn't need it, man. Everybody's moving there. Can't even drive to work these days. Sorry. I sound like a person.
26:38
DJ Iron Mike
Actually, you know what? You know, I was gonna give him the music, but real quick, before we get back in the music, socially in Asheville, you know, you have, like. We've talked about this. You know, there's. There's like such a divide, unlike, you know, people like transplants. Yeah, we walk. Me and Juice were walking around there at that show we did right before the holidays, and it was like, you.
27:04
Sk the Novelist
Know, did you get looks or something?
27:05
DJ Iron Mike
Like white people? Wakanda. But you have like. Golly, I made that comment to you before. This shouldn't be a surprise.
27:17
Sk the Novelist
It's not a surprise, but no.
27:18
DJ Iron Mike
Like, the downtown area is like. They really kind of like, modeled it after Soho. I feel like you got that kind of like, really artsy feel, but underneath it you still have like, the real, like, artists who make like, really, like, down to earth real stuff. So how does that. How do those two worlds kind of mix in that. In the.
27:35
Sk the Novelist
What are the two worlds? Define the two worlds.
27:37
DJ Iron Mike
White people, Wakanda.
27:39
Sk the Novelist
Yeah. Okay.
27:41
DJ Iron Mike
In the downtown area.
27:43
Sk the Novelist
Uhhuh.
27:43
DJ Iron Mike
And. And then, you know, and then like the. And then like the real art scene, the real down, like, North Carolina. Asheville art scene.
27:54
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, It's. It's interesting. I mean, I don't know how it happens. It's kind of like, what are you gonna do? It just kind of all happens in the same space. Just, you know, But I do know that, like, you know, Asheville. I've seen, like, a movement of Asheville from being like this super family oriented, blah, blah, like, thing to like getting a little more edgy with stuff. Like we had. Oh gosh, God, I'm blanking on the band. But we had like a hip hop, like some legendary hip hop group come through and do like, Golly, I'm like blanking on the spot right now. This is crazy. FTO opened for them. Golly. I can't believe. I can't think of their names. No, it wasn't like Wu Tang. I could think of like Wu Tang, but either way, we.
28:41
DJ Iron Mike
They lost soul.
28:42
Sk the Novelist
Nah, nah.
28:44
DJ Iron Mike
You're really kind of losing points as a rapper.
28:46
Sk the Novelist
I'm losing points bad right now. It wasn't like one of my favorite, like a couple good times. But anyways, you know, this was like a festival with like families out and crap like that. But it's still like rocking out with like hip hop and stuff like that. You know what I'm saying? So I say that to say that, like, there's a lot of crossover. It's not like so much of a divide in the sense of like, things are taboo and blah, blah. I mean, if you're in Asheville, you know, you're liable to see some crazy stuff or you know, some wild cultural stuff. Is that. You know what I'm saying? It's not. I don't know. I don't know if that answers your question, but I don't see a huge divide really.
29:24
Sk the Novelist
I think it's just kind of like a lot of different types of people just coexisting in one space. I don't know. That's my.
29:30
DJ Iron Mike
That's like, that's my final. That's like some high level hippie stuff right there.
29:34
Sk the Novelist
Was it some hippie stuff?
29:35
DJ Iron Mike
I don't know if you like white rapper stuff, but it's good.
29:38
Sk the Novelist
Good.
29:38
DJ Iron Mike
It's cool. It's cool.
29:40
Sk the Novelist
Jurassic F. No, I'm trying to think of who it was, man.
29:44
DJ Iron Mike
It's. It's.
29:44
Sk the Novelist
I've already lost. The moment's gone.
29:46
DJ Iron Mike
We'll look it up. But either way, let's get back into the music. So we got, I. I got like an old school joint as like a segue. But then we'll get into some of the newer stuff. I got how you feeling? Featuring ptp.
29:59
Sk the Novelist
Oh, oh, okay. Word. Yeah, Nice.
30:01
DJ Iron Mike
And then we'll get into throwback Brain said and all that fun stuff. But yeah, keep it locked here. I got SK the novelist up in the building. You know, I'm DJ Iron Mike. Let's get into it.
30:14
Sk the Novelist
Yeah, yeah.
